Feb 4, 2019. Hong Kong.
The death of a well-known socialite and whisperings of a possible murder has the public enthralled with the case. A Forensic Scientist, examining every piece of evidence and possible causes of death, calls forth you and the rest of Hong Kong’s leading Investigators to aid in deducing the truth. It seems that whoever committed this crime knew exactly how the Investigators operated. The Forensic Scientist leads you and the others to the deliberation room where you sit around an old, metal table covered in photographs and autopsy reports. Then, she reveals a chilling discovery… “The murderer is amongst us”.
Deception: Murder in Hong Kong is a social-deduction game by @GreyFoxGames which players lay out ‘evidence’ and ‘means’ cards in front of them. In secret, the Murderer selects the piece of evidence which incriminates him and how the murder was committed to the Forensic Scientist, who must then give clues via special tiles (and not talking – at least about the murder) to the Investigators as they try to figure out who did it, how they did it, and what evidence was present.
After pointing fingers, a few red herrings, and lots of deliberation, players may experience some the following:
- Only letting your friends speak in 30-second intervals, albeit uninterrupted
- An urge to learn sign-language or really good charades skills
- An argument over what constitutes a “Severe Injury” vs “Accident”
- A tendency to replace a major detail of a story each time you tell it
